Resources for ALS Caregivers

Caring for someone living with ALS is hard. ALS United of Georgia tries to make it a little bit easier. We care for and about you.

Those who love and care for people living with ALS know how overwhelming it can be. As the patient experiences the loss of mobility associated with the disease, so too do the people caring for him. As the illness progresses, the amount of help needed increases. Caregivers are on call every minute of the day, regardless of their other responsibilities. Often, they are so focused on the patient’s needs that they forget to take care of themselves. Most of them keep quiet about the effects of ALS on their own lives because it’s hard to complain when someone you love is suffering.

ALS United of Georgia staff and volunteers understand that ALS affects an entire family and not just the person with the diagnosis, which is why we offer programs to designed for caregivers including support groups and respite care.
